MAKING TIME FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Your guide to Highmark’s mental health resources

Your team's mental health matters

Your team’s mental health matters

We know that you want your team members to be their best, most healthy selves— and a big part of that is taking care of their mental health. How your employees feel can directly affect their quality of work.

Unfortunately, they may be reluctant to discuss their mental health with you. There’s a lot you can do to create a happier, healthier workplace — but that improvement begins with an open conversation.

Who should my employees reach out to if they need help?

There are a couple different treatment options available.

In-person appointment

If your employee would prefer an in-person appointment, they should reach out to their primary care physician or mental health professional. Once your employee’s condition has been determined, their doctor will begin treatment or connect them with a mental health specialist to develop a care plan.

Telemedicine appointment

Your employee’s in-network physician or mental health professional may offer virtual visits. Your team members may also receive convenient, virtual care through our telemedicine partner, AmWell. AmWell offers virtual mental health services, allowing for convenient access to mental health specialists and resources to treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, panic disorders, and more.

Speak with a medical professional

Your team members can call the Member Service number on the back of their Highmark ID card to request to speak with a Highmark behavioral health specialist. Or they can call 1-888-BLUE-428 (1-888-258-3428) to be connected to a specially-trained Blues On Call registered nurse whenever they like, any time of the day, any day of the week. From there, they can assist your team members with symptom assessments, provide general health-related information, and discuss their options for treatment with in-network providers. Most importantly, these conversations are always kept strictly confidential.

To learn more about what resources are available to them, their covered benefits, and the cost for care, your employees should call the number on the back of their member ID card or log into their member website to view their options.
